It gives me great pride to lead the Department of Soil and Water Conservation, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa —a department at the forefront of protecting our land, water, and agricultural heritage. In an era of climate uncertainty, our mission is more critical than ever; to conserve every drop of water, reclaim every inch of degraded land, and empower farming communities through sustainable and smart solutions. From check dams to terracing, from watershed development to groundwater recharge, our interventions are transforming landscapes and securing livelihoods. Together, with innovation, dedication, and community partnership, we are shaping a resilient and food-secure future for our province.

Welcome to the Directorate General of Soil & Water Conservation Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa borders the mountainous regions except the South-East portion of the province. Therefore geographically, the province is intertwined with various rivers, floods waterways and hill torrent runoff water resources. The water tributaries on one hand are a source of life for agriculture, while on the other, the developed agriculture lands are at a constant threat of being washed away by the erosive forces of flowing water. The water tributaries on one hand are a source of life for agriculture, while on the other, the developed agriculture lands are at a constant threat of being washed away by the erosive forces of flowing water. The conservation of these vital resources is a need of the hour to ensure sustainable high level crop production for food security and safeguarding the socio-economic status of the farming community. The Directorate General Soil & Water Conservation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is functional in thirty-two (32) Districts of the province including Merged Areas (MAs) and is striving for the protection and conservation of agricultural lands through conservation structures like Inlet and outlet structures, field spillways, cemented water storage ponds, Spurs and protection bunds/walls cemented, G. I. wire spurs and protection bunds, runoff diversion structures and source development, rain fed water retention reservoirs, earthen ponds and earthen embankments, contours and  terraces. In addition water harvesting interventions such as check dams, water reservoirs etc.
